HOW IT BEGAN
Katie and Craig Hurst adopted 3 children with significant special needs from China. Having contact with many families who wanted a form of support, Katie founded a support group online for adoptive moms. The group grew to hundreds of moms who were thankful for a safe place to share their needs. Through this group Katie saw firsthand the need for a unique system of support for families after adoption. She spoke with many families who were enduring a level of trauma with absolutely no support system to guide them into healing emotionally, medically and financially.
Through a series of unique events the Hurst family became widely connected with people from all walks of life who wanted to support families like theirs. There was a particularly unique and large connection to the Chinese community. It was this community that planted a mustard seed of hope that God would do something new and miraculous for adoptive families.
2020 was a hard year. 2020 was the worst in so many ways, but in the middle of that God was still moving and working. Our Father’s Diadem was formed in order to bring people together to support adoptive families.
